On March 11, 2026, in New York City, Ms. Nooria Safi, Founder of the Refugees and Resettlement Support Organization (RRSO), participated in the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. The event provided an important platform to learn from global discussions, exchange experiences, and engage with organizations, networks, and advocates working in the fields of human rights, women’s empowerment, and education.

 

During the second day of the program, Ms. Safi participated in the MALALA Advocates meeting, where she had the honour of meeting Malala Yousafzai. The meeting brought together organizations and networks dedicated to supporting women’s and girls’ education.

 

Important discussions were held regarding the activities of the Advocacy Committee. Ms. Safi shared the education and women’s empowerment activities of the Women Capacity Building and Development Organization (WCBDO), as well as RRSO-related community support initiatives, while advocating for Afghan girls’ issues. Malala Yousafzai expressed commitment to continuing collective efforts to advance educational opportunities for girls.

 

The meeting also highlighted a strong commitment toward taking sustainable and impactful steps in the field of education, continuing to inspire meaningful work in support of women and youth worldwide.
